Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU) was established in 1875. AAMU is an accredited public, historically black, Land-grant university located in Normal, Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama. AAMU is a member school of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund and reflects the uniqueness of the traditional land-grant institution which combines professional, vocational and liberal arts pursuits. AAMU is accredited by SACS (Southern Associations for Colleges and Schools). AAMU, in cooperation with businesses, industrial and governmental agencies and other institutions, provides a laboratory where theory is put into practice in a productive environment.
